Christmas Lights
Christmas Lights Switch On 2024
The annual Christmas Light Switch On event will take place on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 at the Cults Kirk Hub. This fundraising event is organised by the CBMCC and in past years has been a great success. The little ones can enjoy meeting Santa and the Highland Alpacas and there will be festive games. For the grown-ups, there will be mulled wine and mince pies and last minute Christmas shopping at a wide range of stalls by local organisations and artisans. The Aberdeen Chorus of Sweet Adelines will be singing for us again. In 2023, the event raised over £1,300 to keep the lights twinkling for another season.
Aberdeen City Council Don't Fund The CBMCC Christmas Lights
Your Community Council secured funding for these lights from the generosity of our local businesses and residents. Although the CBM Community Council own the lights, we have to pay annually for storage, maintenance, insurance, repairs, installation and removal. We fundraise all year round and especially at Christmas time, to help secure the future of Cults Bieldside Milltimber Christmas lights.

History of the Christmas Lights
During 2016, Community Councillor Lindsay Davidson embarked on an ambitious Christmas Lights Project with the aim of introducing new festive lighting into our community. Cults, Milltimber and Bieldside had no Christmas lights and no budget for this project, so Lindsay reached out to prominent local businesses and community stakeholders for sponsorship and was truly delighted to obtain sufficient sponsorship to fund our feature lights. These were mounted all along the North Deeside Road within our community and really brighten up the season for us all. In total there are 48 Christmas Lights but, due to works being done in 2020, 3 are not available to be mounted. Hopefully everything will be back in order this year and do get in touch if you'd like to help contribute to the future of the Christmas Lights.
