The club walks all year round and has a varied programme from flat winter walks of under 15km to full days in the hills covering 25km or more with ascents of over 900m. Shorter options are normally offered for those who wish to walk at a more leisurely pace. Walks normally on the 2nd Sunday of each month with indoor talk sessions on the 1st Thursday.
The group meets every Thursday at 10:30am at the Cults Kirk Centre for a gentle walk lasting 30 - 60 minutes followed by refreshments. Takes place all year round. Free to join.
On the 1st Friday of the month, the Rambling Group embark on a 5 mile maximum, flat walk, to enjoy our wonderful surroundings. It usually ends with a stop for a hot drink and a fine piece at a local cafe. Meet at 9:45am for a prompt 10:00am start.
The majority of outings with this group take place on the 4th Saturday of each month. Walkers meet at Dunmail Car Park at 8:15am for an 8:30am departure. Walks are usually less than 10 miles. Transport is by car.
Meets on the 1st Sunday of each month and also mid-month on a Monday. Main activity is hillwalking and we walk all year with shorter routes during the winter months. We also hold occasional weekend meets.
Dee-Ciders Walking Group
The group meets weekly on Tuesdays. Walks are usually about 7 miles and good company is assured.
A large and long-established hillwalking and climbing club. It organises an all-year-round series of meets (Thursday, Sat. or Sunday, weekend, etc.) to cater for most interests, and has a club “hut” (Muir Cottage) near Braemar.
Walk all year round at fortnightly intervals using either a hired coach (£15 per person), public transport or car sharing. Varied programme with shorter walks available on the same outing. Contact: info@aberdeenramblers.co.uk or 01224 322580.
Walks are held on the second Saturday of each month, from September to June, and we usually meet at 10am. Most walks are on fairly level ground and of 4 - 7 miles in length. Walkers must be members of the U3A.
Fortnightly Sunday outings each year March to early November and monthly winter walks in December - February. Outings are by coach. Summer walks are generally between 12 and 20 miles, winter walks usually cover 8 to 10 miles. Options for shorter walks are clearly identified.
Winter walks usually cover 8 to 12 miles while summer walks are generally around 15 miles. An alternative route following a shorter lower walk is available where possible. The club also organises weekend meets and a variety of social events.
