Road Closures/ Traffic Restrictions
THE ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL (MILLTIMBER SCHOOL, BINGHILL
ROAD AND AGRICOLA STREET, MILLTIMBER, ABERDEEN) (TRAFFIC
MANAGEMENT) ORDER 2025
Aberdeen City Council proposes to introduce certain lengths of prohibition of
stopping ‘SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR’, operational Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, on either side of
Agricola Street, this adjacent to the formalised crossing point and existing prohibition
of waiting at any time restrictions on Binghill Road, Milltimber. The proposal will
improve visibility of the formalised crossing point for drivers approaching and
similarly give pedestrians clear visibility when utilising the crossing point.
These have been proposed due to complaints from members of the public in relation
to indiscriminate parking and congestion, especially around school pick up and drop
off times, with continued concerns about child safety in and around the access to
Milltimber School.
These proposals, beyond deterring indiscriminate parking in and around the school
entrance, will also protect the existing formalised crossing points on Agricola Street,
as well as the formalised crossing point on Binghill Road south of its junction with
Agricola Street, thereby ensuring adequate visibility on all approaches,
THE ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL (KIRK BRAE, CULTS, ABERDEEN)
(TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ORDER 202(X)
Members of the public have highlighted a road safety concern on Kirk Brae. Officers
have been made aware of the danger of parked vehicles on the bend immediately
northwest of Friarsfield Road. These parked vehicles are creating an obstruction to
the free flow of traffic and effectively reduce the forward visibility of traffic travelling in
the opposite direction (and vice versa), thereby presenting northbound drivers
difficulties when attempting to overtake these parked vehicles in a safe manner.
To improve road safety on Kirk Brae, officers propose to establish a permanent
Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for an additional length of prohibition of waiting at
any time on its west side, between its junctions with Kirk Terrace and Kirk Place. For
information, the additional length is currently in place using a temporary TRO on the
grounds of road safety.
Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order, which will operate from 23:59 on 19 June 2026, until 23:59 on 19 December 2027, is to impose traffic management restrictions on any of the roads as contained within the list of Adopted Highways within Aberdeen City. These restrictions may include parking restrictions, reduced speed limits, reduced weight limits, reduced width limits, road closures, one-way restrictions and / or prohibitions of certain manoeuvres. A full list of the affected streets is available for public viewing at Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen. Road closures, including any diversion routes, will be advertised with appropriate advanced signage and no-waiting restrictions will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner’s expense. The measures are necessary to protect public safety during roads maintenance works by, or for Aberdeen City Council.
