DESCRIPTION:The CBMCC Footpath Group helps to promote\, maintain\, and enhance local footpaths. There are a number of volunteer working sessions throughout this year\, and we would love it if local residents could help with cutting back overgrown vegetation and invasive species\, such as Himalayan Balsam\, and doing some path maintenance. The Footpath Group has a selection of hand tools for volunteers to use on these tasks\, or you can bring your own.\n\nHimalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species that colonises riverbanks to the detriment of our local flora and pollinators. It can be eradicated with persistent and coordinated action to remove it. Removal is easy and can be done by anyone.\n\nSeveral of the CBMCC Footpath Group sessions will include Himalayan Balsam Bashing in conjunction with path maintenance. On these days volunteers will be given training on plant identification\, how to remove the plant\, and advice on staying safe while carrying out this work. The hope is that small groups will adopt sections of the riverbank to visit regularly.\nThe scheduled sessions start at 10am and last for three hours\, but any time you can give when available would be much appreciated.\n\nIf you are keen to help to enhance our local paths\, please email your details to: footpathgroup@cbmcommunity.org.uk\, and we’ll add you to our email list to update you with any changes or ad-hoc tasks.\n\nThe Community Council welcomes volunteers of all ages\, backgrounds\, and abilities. SUMMARY:CBMCC Footpath Group Volunteering & Balsam Bashing - Newton Dee
The Footpath Group has a selection of hand tools for volunteers to use on these tasks\, or you can bring your own. \nHimalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species that colonises riverbanks to the detriment of our local flora and pollinators. It can be eradicated with persistent and coordinated action to remove it. Removal is easy and can be done by anyone. \nSeveral of the CBMCC Footpath Group sessions will include Himalayan Balsam Bashing in conjunction with path maintenance. On these days volunteers will be given training on plant identification\, how to remove the plant\, and advice on staying safe while carrying out this work. The hope is that small groups will adopt sections of the riverbank to visit regularly. The scheduled sessions start at 10am and last for three hours\, but any time you can give when available would be much appreciated. If you are keen to help to enhance our local paths\, please email your details to: footpathgroup@cbmcommunity.org.uk\, and we’ll add you to our email list to update you with any changes or ad-hoc tasks. \nThe Community Council welcomes volunteers of all ages\, backgrounds\, and abilities. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult\, and Individuals who have additional support needs must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The Volunteers who run the outdoor volunteering activities are not qualified or insured to assist with children under 16 or individuals with additional support needs. SUMMARY:CBMCC Footpath Group Volunteering & Balsam Bashing - Inchgarth Reservoir/ River Dee Path
The Footpath Group has a selection of hand tools for volunteers to use on these tasks\, or you can bring your own. \nHimalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species that colonises riverbanks to the detriment of our local flora and pollinators.
