Christmas Lights

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON EVENT NOV 21 2020

It was a very different Christmas Lights Switch On event this year compared to last but The Loon Piper was excellent. We hope you enjoyed his performance on Facebook and that the Christmas lights are cheering you up after an unusual year. Hopefully we can return to our usual event in 2021 with visits from Santa in his Tuk Tuk, Aberdeen Chorus and Highland Alpacas.

ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL DON'T FUND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Your Community Council secured funding for these lights from the generosity of our local businesses. Unfortunately, our Christmas light fund is dwindling. Although we own the lights, we have to pay for storage, maintenance, insurance, repairs, installation and removal, we are now fundraising to help secure the future of Cults Bieldside Milltimber Christmas lights. If you
enjoy the lights please consider making a donation. Account name: CBMCC LIGHTS Account number: 10168261 Sort Code: 80-06-19

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

The community council secured light sponsorship from the following local businesses, community stakeholders, and local residents to deck out 45 lamp-posts along North Deeside Road with festive lights including, in no particular order, Cala Homes, Bancon Homes, Esker Gin, Sonya Angus The Unique Boutique, Marcliffe Hotel, ActivPayroll, Scott Gilmour Optometrists, Councillor M. Tauqeer Malik, The Aberdeen Clinic, Blether, International School of Aberdeen, four local residents, Graeme Munro Accountant (who has just moved premises to the Courtyard in Cults), Gil Robertson Painter and Decorator, Hillview Church and The Bieldside Inn. HISTORY OF THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

During 2016, Community Councillor Lindsay Davidson embarked on an ambitious Christmas Lights Project with the aim of introducing new festive lighting into our community. Cults, Milltimber and Bieldside had no Christmas lights and no budget for this project, so Lindsay reached out to prominent local businesses and community stakeholders for sponsorship and was truly delighted to obtain sufficient sponsorship to fund our feature lights. These were mounted all along the North Deeside Road within our community and really brighten up the season for us all. In total there are 48 Christmas Lights but, due to works being done in 2020, 3 are not available to be mounted. Hopefully everything will be back in order next year and do get in touch if you'd like to help contribute to the future of the Christmas Lights.
