** post script: the results of the environmental walkabout have been published and shared with the Community Council. If you are interested in finding out what issues were identified in this year's walkabout, please contact any Community Council member, or email cbmcc@cbmcommunity.org.uk **
The Environmental Walkabouts during 2009 were useful and practical for local residents, elected members and council staff. Depending on the date, some walkabouts were joined by city wardens, local police inspectors, community councillors, tenants associations and interested individuals. The purpose of the Walkabout is to identify ongoing neighbourhood problems with litter, overgrown bushes and trees, graffiti, fly tipping, blocked drains, poor street lighting, crumbling footpaths, potholes, road signs, parks and play equipment – in fact, anything which comes under the heading “environmental”.
Steven Shaw, Environmental Manager, has issued the dates for all 37 Neighbourhood Environmental Walkabouts for 2010.
The date for your diary for the Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber neighbourhood is Thursday 29 April 2010 at 10 am. Because of feedback following last year’s Walkabouts, this year there will be two or more starting points so that residents can choose which part of the neighbourhood they walk. In Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber, three starting points have been identified: one at Cults Library which will look at Abbotshall Road to Quarry Road area, one at Bieldside shops, which will look at the area from Quarry Road to the Baillieswells and one at Milltimber Community Hall at The Meadows which will look at the Binghill Road to Contlaw Road area.
